Movies You Should Love Podcast - Episode 7 - Pulp Fiction

http://www.moviesyoushouldlove.com
Movies You Should Love with Loren and Scott.

This episode is about Pulp Fiction, number 94 on AFI's Top 100 list.

Movies You Should Love is like film school without the tuition. Loren and Scott take on classic and current films and break them down, explaining what makes them tick and why people love them today. In our weekly (well, usually weekly) film discussion, we pick apart, analyze, critique, mock, and dig into both classic films, mediocre movies, and modern masterpieces.

Our current podcast series is working through the American Film Institute's list of the Top 100 American Films of All Time.

Jerry Joseph & the Jackmormons
5/6/11 -
Surf Sanctuary, Limon Dos,
Popoyo, Nicaragua
****VGRM22****

*******************************************************************************
So here is night 2 of Jerry's 3 night Birthday stand in Nicaragua. There is
some debate as toward whether we should circulate night 3 as Jerry was unfortunately
suffering from laryngitis on this run with his voice getting progressively strained
as it went on. His playing(& the band's) was still on FIYA, of course, but by
the third night the voice that we love so much was pretty much gone. You can get
an idea of where the voice was headed as you listen to this show. Again, his
playing the next night was still absolutely ripping, but the voice would not
cooperate.

So we put the vote to you, 'O the Jerry Joseph faithful'...do you still want night
3 of this run to go up, knowing that the vox will be somewhat rough?? Or should
we leave that night to the memories of those who were there?? You make the
call with this advance knowledge in mind.

Jerry Joseph & the Jackmormons
5/5/11 -
Surf Sanctuary, Limon Dos,
Popoyo, Nicaragua
****VGRM25****

*******************************************************************************
So here is night 1 of Jerry's 3 night Birthday stand in Nicaragua. There is
some debate as toward whether we should release night 3 as Jerry was unfortunately
suffering from laryngitis on this run with his voice getting progressively strained
as it went on. His playing(& the band's) was still on FIYA, of course, but by
the third night the voice that we love so much was pretty much gone.

So we put the vote to you, 'O the Jerry Joseph faithful'...do you still want night
3 of this run to go up, knowing that the vox will be somewhat rough?? Or should
we leave that night to the memories of those who were there?? You make the
call with this advance knowledge in mind.

A Vocabulary for Speaking about the Future

Here's a podcast of my last Locus column, A Vocabulary for Speaking about the Future:

Science fiction writers and fans are prone to lauding the predictive value of the genre, prompting weird questions like ââHow can you write science fiction today? Arenât you worried that real science will overtake your novel before itâs published?ââ This question has a drooling idiot of a half-brother, the strange assertion that ââscience fiction is dead because the future is here.ââ

Now, I will stipulate that science fiction writers often think that theyâre predicting the future. The field lays claim to various successes, from flip-phones to the Web, waterbeds to rocket-ships, robots to polyamory.

Wicked Bass Free Comp 2012

Author: Various Artists
Keywords: House; Techno; Garage; Bass; UK; Russia; Ukraine; Wicked Bass; Josh H; WOLS; Volta Cab; Hueco S; Vtgnike; Klic
Collection: opensource

Eastern European record label Wicked Bass have kindly given away this incredible compilation absolutely free.

Made up of six tracks, this compilation from the Kiev / Milan bassed music blog come record label showcasing some of House and Dubstepâs shining young stars including Volta Cab, Josh H and Klic. Itâs varied in itâs tempo, but the vibe of the compilation stays tight, producing a very ambient yet dance floor friendly set of tracks.

Personal highlights have to be Josh Hâs âWhatâs Houseâ with itâs 90âs House style drums and cut piano sampling, whilst incorporating the vocal work and percussion of modern UK House. Huerco Sâs deep, ambient take on Juke is another pleasant surprise, while Klicâs âPostâ closes the compilation perfectly with itâs deep, near-Techno approach to House music.

Tracklist:

01. Josh H â Whatâs House

02. WOLS â Adam Beam

03. Volta Cab â Perfect Love

04. Huerco S â Withnail

05. Vtgnike â Ti Uedesh Skoro

06. Klic â Post

Movies You Should Love Podcast - Episode 8 - The French Connection

http://www.moviesyoushouldlove.com - Movies You Should Love with Loren and Scott

This episode is about The French Connection, number 93 on AFI's Top 100 list.
